The Road With Your Name

Tuesday, May 5, 2026

"...you will be told what you must do." - Acts 9:6 (NIV)

You’ve been tired. Not the kind sleep fixes. The kind that comes from carrying something you kept having to convince yourself was right. And somewhere in the middle of all that effort, a quiet conviction began forming. Something just ahead of you started taking shape, and the more honest you got, the harder it was to ignore. Part of you wants to dismiss it because you’re too worn out to start something new. But this doesn’t feel like starting over. It feels like you’re finally stepping onto something that was there the whole time, and everything behind you was preparation.

Saul, later known as Paul, was on a road he had planned down to the last detail when a light knocked him flat and a voice asked why he was fighting what was trying to reach him. Blinded and on his back, he received the simplest direction of his life. “...you will be told what you must do,” Acts 9:6. That’s the same promise running underneath your week. “...let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,” Hebrews 12:1. That’s the road in front of you.

You’ve felt that. The relationship you’ve been praying about, and last week a small opening appeared that you didn’t engineer. The work you’ve been grinding through, and one morning a clearer path showed up that actually fits who you’re becoming. The friend you didn’t expect to hear from, reaching out about the very thing you’d been carrying alone. “...the things God has prepared for those who love him,” 1 Corinthians 2:9. That doesn’t feel like coincidence. That’s a road that knows your name, meeting you where your strength had nothing left to give.

Paul, writing from a Roman prison, put it plainly. “...Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal,” Philippians 3:13–14. James, the brother of Jesus, said it even simpler. “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says,” James 1:22. You can feel where this is going. You may not have a name for it yet, but something in you keeps leaning that direction. It doesn’t feel like pressure. It feels like recognizing something you were meant to walk.

Step into it. Into what’s opening. You didn’t map this road, but it fits better than anything you drew up on your own. What God has been building in you is already walking this road. You’re just catching up to it. It fits. Let it move you. Now go.

Prayer

Father, we’re tired from building roads that depended on us. Thank You for the one that was already here. Give us courage to step onto it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
