Already In Motion

Key Scripture: "...'My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.'" - Isaiah 46:10 (NKJV)

You know the moment when something keeps returning to your mind and you cannot bring it to a clear answer. You have thought it through more than once and tried to approach it carefully. Still, it remains unresolved, and we begin to feel something build inside us, as if everything depends on how well we handle it.

That feeling makes sense because what is in front of us is real. But it isn't telling the whole story, and God meets us right there. "...'My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure,'" Isaiah 46:10 (NKJV). He is not waiting for us to arrive at the right outcome. He saw where this was going before we could see where it began, and His purpose has not shifted. His work was underway before we understood what we were dealing with.

An early follower of Jesus named Philip received a direction from God to travel down a desert road, Acts 8:26-35. At the same time, an Ethiopian government official was traveling that same route, reading a passage from Isaiah and struggling to understand it. Philip arrived at that exact moment and explained the passage. Neither of them arranged that meeting, yet the timing was exact. The official believed the message about Jesus, was baptized along the way, and continued his journey with a changed heart, Acts 8:36-39. Philip didn't create that moment. He stepped into something God had prepared ahead of him.

When we hear that, it begins to change how we see what we are facing. Jesus spoke about this directly: "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working," John 5:17 (NKJV). He is not distant from what we are walking through. He has been involved in what we are facing, and that involvement goes beyond what we think we need to control.

And that involvement reaches deeper than our circumstances. "For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure," Philippians 2:13 (NKJV). He is not only directing what happens around us. He is shaping what we want. Even the desire to trust instead of gripping tighter begins with Him.

Because He is already at work, both around us and within us, we don't need to carry the full weight of how things resolve. The same God who prepared that meeting on a desert road is present in what is still unfinished in our lives. His faithfulness does not depend on our progress. We are not carrying this alone, and we never were.

He's not done.

Prayer

Father, thank You that Your work does not wait for our effort. Where we have been gripping what we cannot control, teach us to trust You are moving. Shape our wanting and our walking until both follow You. In Jesus' name, amen.
