Staying on His Path Today

Saturday, January 3, 2026

"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life.'" — John 14:6

Jesus’ words, "I am the way and the truth and the life" (John 14:6), mean that today is not a maze you walk alone. There is a true way through it, and that way is bound up in a Person who already knows every turn. You are not left to guess your way forward and hope God approves afterward; you are invited to walk a path He is already present in and ahead of.

Long ago God said, "I have set before you life and death… now choose life" (Deuteronomy 30:19). That sounds weighty, yet it meets you in very ordinary places. You “choose life” when you answer honestly instead of hiding, when you listen instead of rushing past someone, when you pause to ask for His wisdom instead of leaning only on your own. Each quiet yes to Him is like another step on solid ground. One of the deep gifts of following Jesus is this: you don’t have to create meaning for your day; you get to discover the meaning He has already woven into it.

What makes that hopeful instead of heavy is who walks with you. God’s promise to Joshua was, "The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9). That is not just comfort; it is confidence. The road may twist, but the hand that holds you doesn’t. Delays, surprises, and changes of plan feel jagged to us, but they never knock Him off balance. You are not trying to drag God into your story; He is inviting you to walk awake inside His.

There will still be moments that weigh on your heart—a difficult word from someone you love, a task that feels bigger than your strength, a concern that sits in the back of your mind. In those places, you are not asked to pretend they are small. You are invited to remember, "You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high" (Psalm 3:3). Hope in His sovereignty does not deny what is hard; it says, “This, too, has not slipped out of His care.”

As you move through this day, you can begin to see each situation as a place to walk His path instead of your own. A decision becomes an opportunity to ask, “What choice here reflects trust in You?” A routine chore becomes a quiet act of faithfulness done in His sight. A conversation becomes a chance to bring peace instead of adding to the noise. Bit by bit, your day stops feeling like scattered moments and begins to feel like a journey walked with God.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You that You are my way, my truth, and my life. Keep my feet on Your path today. Let Your steady hand give me courage where I am unsure and joy where I am tired, and help me walk this day knowing my life is held in Your good care.
