Led by the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation

Key Scripture: "...that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better." - Ephesians 1:17

As we prepare to step into a new year, many of us carry questions about direction and timing. Paul does not begin by asking God to sharpen our reasoning - he prays that God would give His people "the Spirit of wisdom and revelation", so that they may know God Himself. Real guidance begins there.

Scripture says, "We have received the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us" (1 Corinthians 2:12). Revelation is not a surge of emotion or imagination. It is when God brings truth close enough that it becomes personal. A motive we once defended grows uneasy. A habit we excused loses its cover. Peace begins to replace the tightness inside. And instead of leaning on our own conclusions, we learn to trust what God has already spoken: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

At times this work becomes specific. A person remains on our heart. A conversation we have avoided returns to the surface. A burden to pray does not fade. A next step feels steady rather than rushed. These do not pull us away from Scripture - they align with it. Jesus says, "First go and be reconciled to them" (Matthew 5:23-24). He commands, "As I have loved you, so you must love one another" (John 13:34). God's way remains clear: "...to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8).

When something carries that kind of direction, we can pray with honesty: "Father, if this is from You, let it remain and grow clear. If it is only my own voice, let it fade." What is imagination weakens under that prayer. What is from the Spirit becomes quieter, steadier, and ready for obedience - not dramatic, not self-centered - faithful.

Today I do not depend on my own understanding to carry everything forward. I ask God to give the Spirit of wisdom and revelation - to make truth clear where He is speaking, to let love lead where fear has ruled, and to give grace for the next honest step He places in front of me.

Prayer

Father, thank You for Your Spirit. Where You are making truth clear, help me receive it. Where I am leaning on my own understanding, loosen my grip. Let what is from You remain, and let what is only mine pass away. Give me courage to walk in love and obedience today. Amen.
